Noah is in Kindergarten
Really? Did I just say that? My sweet ‘baby’ boy is now 5 and in school! This summer has been a whirlwind with bringing home our sweet babies, and now we’ve entered the whirlwind of school supplies, school uniforms, snack bags for school, drop off and pick up in a huge car-line, and yes, even homework this last week.
After being in school for a short time here are a few of the things we have seen and heard.
On teacher meet and greet day after putting his supplies away, meeting his teacher and walking out the door Noah says, “Mommy and Daddy, when am I going to be able to go to kindergarten without you?” What a HUGE step for my sweet boy. A year ago we couldn’t even talk about the possibility of school without him emphatically stating that I would be his only teacher. So thankful that as the time has come he is ready to embrace it!
First day of school as our teacher walked him over to our car she says, “He is a breath of fresh air!” Ahhh…
Second day of school, teacher lets me know that the girl he sits next to absolutely adores him and tries to hold his hand… Oh boy – not this already…
Second day of school Noah tells me about what they were doing and says that he knows how to write his name in capital letters and lowercase letters (which he was doing before) and that he can’t quite write his letters in… and then he waves his hand frantically all around in circles and zig zags because he couldn’t remember the word – cursive. Wish I had that on film.
Third day of school, Noah is sitting in the car 10 minutes before it’s time to go because he is so excited!
Last week the teacher walked him out to the car and says, “I just have to warn you, that I seriously just want to take this boy home he is so precious.”
This past weekend, Noah is telling me about money and mentions the quarter, dime, nickel… and then cannot remember the other coin. Suddenly he remembers something he ‘knows’ about the other coin… “Oh yeah, the other one has the man on it that my teacher knows!”
Big boy! Love him!
