We Got Our Traveling Home!!
Chevrolet Silverado Dually 3500 with a 42’ Heartland Cyclone Toy Hauler in tow!
This is our new home for the next year or so and we are tremendously excited to hit the road. A few weeks ago, I drove to Mesa, Arizona to pick this big boy up with a good friend of mine. It was a good road trip and we didn’t have to pay for a hotel on the way home. Simply pulled over at Speedy’s truck stop and got some needed rest along with many other diesel trucks purring through the night.
I have to say that this is longest vehicle I’ve driven. It’s a litte different than the ol’westy, but I got the hang of it fairly quick. I do know that there is still much learning in moving this across the country and backing it to camp sites.
This toy hauler is exactly what we wanted! We have done a lot of research on what would work best for a family of 6 to travel the US and in our minds, this is it.
So why did we go with the toy hauler?
- It has a bath and 1/2
- The garage area has bunks to fit all 4 kids, plus there is an additional loft area to sleep a couple more kids so there is definitely room for a larger family
- The garage area is kid proof since it’s built to carry toys (ATV’s, motorcycles, small cars, etc …)
- By having a room on the other end for kids to sleep in, mom and dad can hang in the living area before or after kids go to bed, it also means that we’re not setting up and tearing down beds each day from the kitchen table or couch.
- Good for resell
- Garage ramp makes a deck
We’ll do a video to show you around, hopefully soon.
