James 4:14
Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
Thoughts:
Time flies with or without the fun. We are but a mist in the wind that appears for a little while and then vanish. That can be a somewhat daunting verse. Yet on the other hand it can be a relieving verse. I've definitely experienced it, looking back on life and wondering where the time went?
Dreams come and go even quicker. If you hesitate just for a moment, your dreams can disappear. Think about it, have you ever had a great idea or a lasting dream but didn't react on it? Where is that dream now? How long ago did you have it? Has the opportunity already vanished?
Thing is, we don't have much time here on this earth. Lets just bring it all out, we could leave this earth tomorrow in the wink on a eye. Heck not even tomorrow, I may not have enough time to finish this post. We live in an uncertain environment with well defined certain. It's really a beautiful thing. I often think about my life and if everything were laid out in advanced before me, my whole live shown with no option to change it, would I want it? Would I really like that? Would I really want to see it?
There are things that have happened in the past that I wish I could change or things I wish I had done differently. How much more are there things in the future that we wish we can change and wish we could do differently? There lies the beauty. We have the opportunity to make our future different. The freedom to act on a dream that we let float before our eyes and vanish in an instant.
This is a gift from God. The ability to dream, to hope, to act, to live a life pleasing to Him and fulfilling to us. He wants us to be dreamers. And He wants us to take a step of faith, get out of the boat and walk on water. Too many dreams are caught in the web and stay there for too many years. Go back a retrieve them, act on the dreams you have in the moment. After all, we are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanish. We may never experience the great gift God is waiting to give us, if we don't do our part in this journey called life.
