Luke 16:27-29
He answered, "Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father's house, for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they do not also come to this place of torment." Abraham replied. "They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them."
"'No, father Abraham,' he said, 'but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.'"
"He said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises for the dead."
Thoughts:
The rich man living his man-made heaven on earth, sees his eternal future every day on his door step, ignoring it. Walking by his personal prophetic message, he continues to live his life, feeding his sin. Not until it was too late, but a mist in the wind, did he realize his destiny.
God's Word helps us see our future. Do we take that path of the rich man and live our heaven on earth or do we sacrifice our life, giving it to our Lord, loving others, being selfless, and live a life pleasing to Him for an eternity in Heaven which is far grander than any heaven on earth we can create?
Once you've heard Moses and have listened to the Prophets, you'll realize this. And you'll want others to realize it as well. Though if you are too entrenched in your very own man created heaven, not even a dead man rising from the dead will change your ways. As there is proof of this when not long after telling this story, Jesus died and rose from the dead to which some did not believe.
