Luke 11:37-41
When Jesus had finished speaking, a Pharisee invited Him to eat with him; so He went and reclined at the table. But the Pharisee, noticing that Jesus did not first wash before the meal, was surprised.
Then the Lord said to him, "Now then, you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside you are full of greed and wickedness. You foolish people! Did not the one who made the outside make the inside also. But give what is inside the dish to the poor and everything will be clean for you.
Thoughts:
It's easy to maintain the outside of our bodies, to look good or presentable. To spend our mornings and evenings bathing ourselves, to wash our hands and faces numerous times a day, to groom our hair, to clip our nails, to stand up straight, to walk with pride, to eat right… But how much time do we spend on our inside? How clean do we keep our cup? How often throughout the day do we take the time to purify our minds, to cleanse our souls, to scrub our spirit? Just as much time as we spend scrubbing our teeth, hands, body? Even more we should be scrubbing our internal being. How much cleaner can you get when the Holy Spirit has full occupancy of your soul?
